The Baby Clothes Quilt Kit
1. How many squares do I need for the Baby Clothes Quilt Kit?
You’ll need 12 6” x 6” squares. When you purchase the kit, you’ll receive a cutting template. You’ll pin the template (using our enclosed straight pins) to the garment and cut around the template.
2. I’d like to have the Baby Clothes Quilt Kit made without the hanging loops. Is this an option?
Yes. When you send back your squares, just include a note with your gift certificate or check, and we’ll be sure and leave them off.
3. Where do I purchase a dowel rod for hanging my Baby Clothes Quilt Kit?
We toyed with the idea of making them ourselves, but a limited knowledge in woodshop leaves us with no other advice than… you can purchase one from JoAnn’s Fabric Store for around $3.00.
4. I’d like to make a quilt larger than the 25” x 25” Baby Clothes Quilt that you offer. Is this an option?
Yes! We now offer the Double Baby Clothes Quilt Kit, which is 50” x 50”. You’ll need 24 6” x 6” squares. Unlike our traditional “BCQK”, this large blanket comes backed with white minky dot.
5. How will you ship the quilt back to me?
We use Priority Mail (www.usps.com) to ship quilts back to you. This way you’ll be able to track your quilt-- as long as you provide an email address.
6. I am too scared/apprehensive/lacking in time to cut out the garments myself. Will you cut the squares out for me?
Yes. People always ask how we can charge so little for sewing our quilts, but the truth is, when you do the cutting, you're doing half the work. So yes, we'll do the cutting. Please include an extra check when returning your a materials to us: $15.00 for cutting the Baby Clothes Quilt Kit, $25.00 for cutting the Memory Quilt Kit, and $30.00 for cutting the Double Baby Clothes Quilt Kit.
7. I would like to include patches/materials that aren't 6" x 6". Can you still include these in the quilt?
Yes. We will applique (sew on top) your small fabrics on the quilt. We charge an extra $20.00 and can accomodate up to 6 patches or small scraps of fabric. Please include a check when you return your materials to us.
8. How long will it take you to complete my Baby Clothes Quilt?
It usually takes us around 3-4 weeks. Sometimes we’ll surprise you and you’ll have it back in a week. Sometimes it takes us the entire 4 weeks. It really depends on how many quilts we’re currently working on in the shop. Need yours faster? Call us: 773.750.7001
The Memory Quilt Kit
1. How many t-shirts do I need to complete my quilt?
You’ll need 16 t-shirts or pieces of fabric to complete the quilt. These squares must be 14.5" x 14.5". When you receive your kit or your custom sewing package, you’ll receive a cutting template. You’ll pin the template (using our enclosed straight pins) to the garment and cut around the template.
2. Are caramel & cloud blue my only color options?
No. In fact, we can create just about any color you’d like. The only downside is because we’re purchasing the special order colors, there will be a $45 surcharge.
3. I’d like to have quilts made for my entire team/group. Can we then get a custom color at no charge?
Yes. If you order 14 quilts, we’ll customize your color at no charge.
4. How large is the Memory Quilt Kit?
It’s 60” x 60”. It makes a great throw in the den, dorm, bedroom, camper—wherever.

Design-A-Doll
1. Whoops! We’re ironed the doll face on the wrong side or we held the iron down too long. Can we get another doll blank?
Yes. Call us: 773.750.7001 and we’ll ship one out for $5.00 plus $6.95 shipping.
2. Wait a minute! We have all this extra yarn for hair, and three additional faces...can we get more doll blanks?
Yes. If you’d like a dressed blank (top, leggings & shoes) that will be $12.95 plus $6.96 shipping, and if you’d like a plain blank, that will be $5.00 plus $6.95 shipping.
3. The doll is finished and we’d like to show her off. What can we do?
Send us your child’s name & where you’re from (city), the doll’s name, and we’ll create a data base of doll birth certificates that you can view online.
4. When can we learn more about sewing?
We will create new patterns for Design-A-Doll every six months, so check back with your local retailer or on our website for more details. You can also download free patterns in the form of PDFs on our website.
